Humboldt’s Fishing Report 1/2/2016
Smith – The Smith river is perfect for fishing, with green water and plenty of fish. Steelhead that have moved their way up the river system are now targetable by anglers. This weekend will provide the best opportunity of the season to land a Steelhead.
Trinity – The Trinity fishing conditions are great with fish throughout the river system providing anglers with high high chance of success at landing a Steelhead.
Eel/South Fork – The Eel and South Fork have both cleared up and the conditions are only getting better each day. Fish are being caught and the numbers will only improve as the water continues to clear.
Mad – The Mad river has cleared faster than was expected and there is a large amount of Steelhead in the river. This is the best conditions provided by the Mad river system so far.
Mattole – The Mattole river is open January 1st from 200 yards above the mouth to Stansbury Creek with barbless hooks required.
