Humboldt’s Friday Fishing Report 7/29/2016
Rockfish – The ocean conditions have prevented most boaters from Rockfishing for the past few days. When the conditions have allowed, most anglers have caught easy limits.
Salmon – The Salmon bite out of Eureka was red hot up until Wednesday when rough ocean conditions prevented most anglers from fishing outside the Jaws. The bite seems to have slowed down inside Humboldt Bay and along the Jetties. Shelter Cove Salmon fishing is still good with many returning with limits. Trinidad is the slowest of the Salmon fishing options, but a few have been caught here and there.
California Halibut – The California Halibut bite in the Humboldt Bay has slowed down slightly but fish are still being caught. The best bet remains fishing live bait under the Samoa bridge in 12-25ft of water.
Pacific Halibut – Pacific Halibut is set to open on August 1st.
Dungeness Crab – Dungeness Crab closes on July 30th, but recreational Abalone opens on August 1st.
