 Humboldt Ocean Fishing Report 7/09/2015

Reports

Salmon

Salmon fishing has been decent, the boats and kayaks have been getting them. Limits are being caught but not consistently or by everyone. The fish are being caught everywhere but fishing out of Eureka has been best. There’s some good schools near the entrance. A few fish have been seen around the jetties as well.

Pacific halibut

Has been good since it opened on the first of the month. With the conditions this weekends it looks like there will be more good fishing before it closes on the 15th. Boats out of Eureka and Trinidad have both been finding them.

Rockfish/ Ling Cod

Most boats are knocking out quick limits of lings with swim baits. Then switching to shrimp flies for quick limits of Rockfish. This great bite seems to be staying steady. Boats and kayaks are doing great anytime the conditions allow.

Humboldt Bay

The jetties have been fishing well, lots of black rockfish and lings around for anglers willing to work. Jigs and plastics have been taking lots of fish. The anchovies and smelt have been active lately in the bay. Shark and ray fishing continues to improve all over. Crabbing has been decent people are finding some nice Dungeness even.

Ocean Marine Forecast

A weak pressure gradient will result in calm seas this weekend.
