Humboldt Ocean Fishing Report 8/21/2015
The salmon bite is starting to turn on! The salmon are staying put and limits are quick once located. The fish are being caught from Shelter Cove up to Trinidad in shallower waters amongst the large balls of bait. Most fish are of medium to smaller size with a few 20lbers thrown in.
Rockfish/ Ling Cod
Most boats are knocking out quick limits of lings with swim baits. Then switching to shrimp flies for quick limits of Rockfish. This great bite seems to be staying steady. Boats and kayaks are doing great anytime the conditions allow.
The jetties have been fishing well, lots of black rockfish and lings around for anglers willing to work. Jigs and plastics have been taking lots of fish. The anchovies and smelt have been active lately in the bay. Salmon have been caught off the jetties amongst the balls of bait.
The warm waters have opened up the option for catching tuna. When the weather allows for it, the tuna have been caught!
